WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE ACES METHOD vs. OTHER SHOOTING INSTRUCTIONAL APPROACHES?

Control and Efficient Motion is the Key to Consistency in Shooting

The ACE Shooting (ACES) Method® focuses on mastering Complete Control of the Shot and executing Efficient Shooting Motion as the blueprint for Accuracy/Consistency.   These two principles differs from other shooting standard instructional approaches.

Our Method of Shooting Instruction Is Unique

The ACE Shooting (ACES) Method is based on a single concept: the best way to improve Accuracy is to Control the shot and shoot Efficiently—this is how you ACE it!  The Shot Guru is the sole author of The ACES Method and has established a number of differentiators in shooting instruction that include:

•  The 25 Basic Principles for Mastering the Jump Shot
•  The 7 Essential Keys for Controlling the Jump Shot
•  The Dynamics of the Shot Pocket
•  The Pocket Pointer, a proprietary device designed to expedite learning and lock in the mechanics taught in ACES

In practice to performance, The ACES Method is unlike anything you have experienced in basketball shooting instruction.  Furthermore, we affirm differences in that:

  1. The ACES Method involves the instruction of a very meticulous set of techniques that fundamentally increases shooting accuracy. Your introduction to ACES will not be a slew of exhaustive training drills—it will be as detailed as learning how to play a musical instrument.  Through The ACES Method, players learn best practices for controlling the shot to increase accuracy and efficiency—this is a central and distinctive approach.
  2. The ACES Method inherently produces a quick release and a beautiful stroke. The ACES Stroke is compact, fluid and effortless. It will catch the attention of those who have an eye for skillful shooting and an appreciation for excellence.
  3. The ACES Method distinguishes itself from other approaches because it makes shooting easier to execute, thus resulting in shots being made more frequently.
  4. When applying The ACES Method, a player’s shot continues to get better!  Because of the principles in ACES, players develop a foundation that facilitates improvement as they get stronger and lock in the ACES technique. The pathway to learning more advanced shooting skills, such as creating your own shot, are the next steps in our training and are made possible once the athlete is saturated in the rudiments of ACES.  This is why ball handling is such an integral part of ACES instruction—our program stresses mastery of a comprehensive skill set.
  5. Our ACES (ACE Shooters) grow in ability and confidence because the improvement and results are real and have a positive impact. Watch the videos of some of our ACES and observe their confident body language.
  6. The ACES Method includes tools and techniques that make changing “muscle memory” an easier process.
  7. The background, experience and expertise of The Shot Guru are distinctive. His detailed and positive approach to shooting instruction connects with players. His students embrace The ACES Method because the results of a profound skill set are realized immediately!

As players discover ACES, they experience an immediate connection with their innate talents and gain a real sense of accomplishment through the skill of Accurate Controlled and Efficient Shooting.

Comparing ACES to Other Shooting Instructional Approaches

In ACES, we do not follow the crowd and embrace some of the more popular protocols of shooting that instructs players to:

“Keep your elbow in”
• “Keep your elbow straight”
• “Line up your arm and elbow with the basket”

For decades, the concepts above have been at the forefront in training one to shoot.  These “standards of basketball shooting instruction” may have value to some, but miss offering the details that players need like those found in “The 7 Essential Keys for Controlling the Jump Shot”, and the more comprehensive “25 Basic Principles for Mastering the Jump Shot”.

Another common theme you also may have heard:

“If you want to shoot better, then get in the gym and work on it!”
• “The more shots you put up, the better you will get.”

The positions above do not offer players a viable solution.  If a player shoots hundreds of shots with bad technique, it just reinforces bad mechanics.  And the result is more of the same—inefficient and inconsistent shooting; all the while working harder, but not necessarily smarter.  In the words of Vince Lombardi, “Remember, it’s only perfect practice that makes perfect”.
