Steve Robinson is The Shot Guru®, an extraordinary basketball coach who specializes in the most meticulous levels of detail in shooting instruction. Coach Rob has a unique background of creative and technical attributes as an athlete, coach, engineer and musician.

As a classic jazz saxophonist, he studied with Professor Bill Fielder, a master teacher and musician who also trained renowned jazz artists including Freddie Hubbard, Terence Blanchard and Wynton Marsalis, just to name a few.   The discipline of mastering technique in playing a musical instrument is reflected in his approach to  basketball shooting instruction.

As a retired data network engineer,  he applies his ability to problem solve and develop solutions.  With an attention to detail and methodical approach, he employs a wealth of knowledge and expertise as he instructs and encourages athletes on the finer points of the jump shot.

After playing basketball for only three years, he became a starting point guard in one of Chicago’s most competitive sections on the South Side. while playing with two high school All-Americans. In his very first season of coaching, Coach Rob led a junior high school basketball team that scored 95 points in one game—that same team fell one game short of an undefeated season while recording a first place finish.  He has never had a losing season as a basketball coach.

For the last 18 years he has focused on skills development; directing clinics and private sessions; teaching the fundamentals of the jump shot while continuing to perfect his instruction of The ACE Shooting Method®. His track record as The Shot Guru® is well documented in producing dramatic results. He is available for private or group lessons for players who are serious about their development.
